TARGETS
The Target Series: Clarity from the Fog
Before the clarity, there was the fog. For years, I painted in the dark, my vision clouded by the chaotic scatter of an undiagnosed mind. Using expressionism, the world was a blur of shapes and noises—impossible to pin down, impossible to hold.
Then came the medication, the diagnosis, and suddenly, the fog lifted.
The “Target Series” maps that awakening. When I began treatment for my late-diagnosed ADHD, the world sharpened into precise, concentric circles. Every inch of every table, chair, and mirror—I saw them with an intensity I had never known. They were no longer just objects; they were coordinates on a grid, they were targets.
I painted them because I could finally see the line. I could finally focus. These works celebrate that first, gasping breath of mental clarity—the moment I could face the canvas without static, the moment I felt well enough to confront the deeper, darker shadows that waited.
What came next was the ‘Golden Child’ series. The darker feelings I began to explore with that newfound focus, the specter rising from the depths. But that was another chapter, another battle.
The Targets were the victory of light. Proof that even from the deepest fog, a man can learn to see again.
